Meet our CEO: Janne Puranen

CEO Janne Puranen believes the best results come where people are allowed to thrive. Bold progress, unwavering commitment, and sustainable development are rooted in the story of Janne Puranen (52), born in Viitasaari.

Entrepreneurship wasn’t originally part of Janne Puranen’s plans. After graduating as a business school student, his career path looked quite different. It wasn’t until he moved to the capital region of Finland that he began gaining experience in computer retail, developing valuable customer service skills along the way. This eventually led him to expert roles in the IT sector. A desire to face challenges and grow professionally has guided him forward ever since.

Today, Puranen leads PCBI in line with his values – with commitment and a spirit of innovation, building a sustainable future.

Music belongs in everyday life

Janne considers recovery important and admits it’s something he sometimes has to consciously practice. “I tend to dive into challenges with a lot of emotion, and that’s where growth happens. When you have the will to succeed and the passion to see things through, everything becomes possible,” he adds.

In his free time, Janne enjoys staying active – gym workouts, boating, and good music keep his mind sharp. Time spent with his two adult daughters is especially meaningful. Their conversations flow easily, and shared interests make their time together natural and rewarding.

Music is also a key part of Janne’s daily life, and in recent years, live concerts have taken on a bigger role. “It’s powerful and deeply emotional. Music has incredible strength,” he says, referring to Lorna Shore’s Pain Remains trilogy, which he says is currently playing in his head.

Facing The Questions – Being capable? Is what I know enough? Do I dare?

Janne takes pride in PCBI’s flat, employee-driven organization, where everyone plays a meaningful role. Trust is at the core – without it, there is no company, and no customer. His leadership style is grounded, realistic, and optimistic. The organization operates efficiently and responsibly – and it shows.

“No colleague is ever left behind.” Janne encourages employees to always do their best. That’s the only way to truly feel satisfied with your work. He also emphasizes the importance of self-reflection: “It’s a vital tool that allows each of us to grow,” he adds.

The Power of Thought – The Importance of Direction

Patience, critical thinking, broad perspective, and understanding are the most important lessons Janne says he’s learned over the years. “People, communities, and companies are all different – there’s no single right way to think or act. What matters most is understanding the destination – the direction we’re heading. The means to get there may differ greatly from your own view, but that’s exactly where the opportunity for growth lies.”

He continues:

“We rarely recognize the moment we’ve reached our goal—only to realize our focus has already shifted toward the next aspiration.”

Janne reminds us that it’s good to pause every now and then and reflect on what we’ve accomplished – and above all: whether we’ve acted in line with our own values and goals.

“In today’s terms, you could say it’s pretty empowering,” he adds with a smile.
